(Sanford, Florida) A 26-year-old local mother, Harriet Moore, has been arrested on five counts of child neglect after Sanford Police found unsupervised children in her home.
The home was found to be filthy, "filled with dirty diapers, crab shells, knives, propane tanks and cannabis."
Police were alerted to the situation after a 911 hang-up call from the Moore household. A representative from the Sanford Housing Authority let officers inside the home. They discovered trash and items inappropriate for children strewn throughout.
The children, who ranged in age from 1 to 11, were left alone for at least 40 minutes before Moore returned home, police said. The Department of Children and Families took custody of the children.
Moore told police that she was absent from the home for about 10 minutes to look at a new house she is planning to move into, the report said. Moore said her mother had been watching the children, according to police.
