(Naugatuck, Connecticut) A 43-year-old local woman, Gina Sendra, was arrested earlier this month for engaging in a years-long sexually abusive relationship with a friend's son starting at the age of 11.
Sendra was a friend of the family who was frequently asked to watch the boy. The boy is now 17 and just recently reported the abuse to authorities.
"We're talking about sexual intercourse and other sexual acts," Naugatuck police Lt. Robert Harrison said.Sendra faces charges of first-degree sexual assault, second-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor.
"I don't want to use the word consent because I don't think an 11-year-old can consent. I think we are dealing with a case of mental manipulation where an adult just fully took advantage of a child."
Sendra was booked into custody and later released on bond. As a condition of release, Sendra is required to wear an ankle monitor and have no contact with the victim.
