(Palm City, Florida) After pleading no contest to leaving the scene of an accident with property damage and driving under the influence, former alcohol rehab executive director Margot Cioffi was sentenced to one year of probation and ordered to rehab.
Ironically, she was ordered to attend Treasure Coast Comprehensive Offender Rehabilitation and Education Program, the program she formerly ran.
Apparently, as part of a deal with the prosecution, charges of resisting arrest and disorderly intoxication were dropped.
Cioffi was also hit with $750 in fines and "other penalties." It's not clear what "other penalties" entails but, presumably, the matter of her driver's license was discussed.
Curiously, for someone who registered a 0.336 blood alcohol level (more than four times the legal limit) when arrested, it seems odd that not even one day in jail was included in her sentence.

(Palm City, Florida) A 59-year-old director of an alcohol rehab program, Margot Cioffi (aka Peggy), was arrested this week for allegedly driving drunk, causing an accident, leaving the scene and resisting arrest.
Cioffi's blood alcohol level was measured at 0.336 by a breathalyzer.
Cioffi was accused of striking another car with her Nissan SUV near Matheson Avenue, driving home, pulling away from a deputy as he tried to handcuff her, and screaming so loud neighbors came out of their homes, a deputy's report says. She was booked into custody at the Martin County Jail and released on $2,000 bond.
Cioffi was charged with DUI with property damage, leaving the scene of an accident with property damage, resisting arrest without violence and disorderly intoxication, a deputy's report says.
Cioffi has also been suspended from her job as Executive Director of the Comprehensive Offender Rehabilitation and Education (CORE) program which provides rehabilitation classes for people convicted of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
