Wisconsin Woman Gets Jail in Sex Case

(Sheboygan, Wisconsin) In February 2008, a 27-year-old local mother-of-three, Kelly D. Oiler, was arrested for allegedly engaging in sex with a 14-year-old boy. Apparently, Oiler entertained 14-year-old boys in her apartment and on one occasion, in July 2007, it led to sex.

Today, Oiler was sentenced by Judge Timothy Van Akkeren to six months in jail after pleading no contest to a felony sexual assault charge.
Oiler, who cried throughout the hearing, said in a statement read by her attorney, June Spoerl, that she is racked by guilt from the offense.

"The guilt eats at me," Oiler, a mother of three, said in the statement. "I beg you to please be merciful, my kids need me. ... I promise you will never see me in your courtroom again."

Spoerl said Oiler has psychological problems and no criminal record, but Van Akkeren said that does not excuse her behavior.

"The nature of what you did in this particular instance is not so much something I can simply tie to depression or anxiety," the judge said. "Because of the seriousness of what you have done, there needs to be some aspect of punishment."

As part of the sentence, which begins May 27, Oiler will be released from jail during the day to care for her children. She must also register as a sex offender.
Six months is a gift when compared to the possible 25 years she could have received. Oiler should put Judge Van Akkeren on her Christmas list.
