Texas Teacher and Male Student, 18

(Early, Texas) a 23-year-old former teacher at Early High School, Joy Blackstock, was arrested last week for allegedly engaging in a sexual relationship with an 18-year-old male student.

She was arrested last week on a charge of improper relationship between an educator and a student.

Blackstock, who was named in a sealed indictment May First, turned herself in Thursday at the jail. That's according to Early Police Chief David Mercer.

The charge, a second-degree felony, is punishable by two to 20 years in prison.

Although the student was 18 at the time, a Texas law makes it a felony for a teacher to have sexual contact with a student in the same school, regardless of whether he or she is legally old enough to consent.

Blackstock was booked into custody at the Brown County Jail and later released on $15,000 bond.
