Florida Teacher Gets Prison in Sex Case - Updated

(Viera, Florida) Former juvenile detention center teacher Adrienne Laflamme, now 63, appeared in court on Monday and pleaded guilty to three counts of unlawful sexual activity with a minor and one count of providing a false report to a law enforcement officer.

Consequently, Laflamme was sentenced to two years in prison.
Her daughter and sister testified in court Monday and asked Judge Robert Burger for a lenient sentence.

"My self-esteem is destroyed," Laflamme told the judge. "I never did anything like this before."

As she spoke, her adult daughter sat sobbing at the back of the courtroom.

Laflamme apologized for tarnishing the image of teachers and asked the judge for mercy.
As part of her sentence, Laflamme received 13 years of post-release, supervised sex-offender probation. At the conclusion of the proceedings, Laflamme was led away to the slammer.

[Previous 6/26/08 post]
(Palm Bay, Florida) A 60-year-old science teacher for Brevard County Schools, Adrienne Laflamme, was arrested last night for allegedly engaging in sex with a 17-year-old male student.
The boy's mother complained that Adrienne Laflamme, who taught science at the Brevard County Juvenile Detention Center, picked her son up at home and had a four-week relationship with him, investigators said. The two had sex at least 15 times, police said, including one time that also involved another teenage boy.

Laflamme, of Palm Bay, lent her car to the boy while she was on vacation but reported it stolen after a co-worker told her she was being investigated, a detective said.
Laflamme faces multiple counts of unlawful sex with minors and one count of filing a false police court.
