NC Teacher Arrested for Sex with Male Student

(Greensboro, North Carolina) A 26-year-old drama teacher at Weaver Academy, Leanne Elizabeth Macklin, surrendered to authorities earlier today and was arrested for allegedly engaging in a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old male student.

Macklin is accused of having oral sex with the student several times at her apartment. She has been charged with five counts of performing sexual activity by a school official.

The police investigation began on July 1 when parents of the student told investigators they believed their son was having an inappropriate relationship with a teacher, according court documents.

The student’s parents also had letters from Macklin to their son containing statements such as "You made me feel needed and trusted and loved," according to a search warrant application returned July 11.

Macklin also allegedly told the student she wrote about him in her journal, the application states.

Police Lt. Brian James said the first alleged incident between the Macklin and the student occurred in December 2006, but could not immediately say how long the relationship is believed to have lasted.

Macklin was booked into custody at the Guilford County Jail and later released on $25,000 bond.
