Teacher Accused of Sex with Disabled Boy

(Queens, New York) A 27-year-old special education teacher at the Devereux Foundation NY Center, Mandi Weeks, was arrested yesterday for allegedly engaging in sex with a 15-year-old disabled student.

Weeks faces charges of rape with a child under the age of 21 and acting in a manner to injure a child under the age of 17.

The alleged sexual assault was discovered Monday when the student went missing and returned home on his own. His mother called John O’Keefe, Executive Director of the Devereux Foundation NY Center, and he directed her to call police.

The alleged relationship between the student and teacher came to light during the investigation.

According to police, Weeks admitted to engaging in sex with the boy.

Mandi Weeks pleaded guilty Monday to third-degree rape. She faces six months in jail and 10 years of probation when sentenced on January 12.
