(The Netherlands) Apparently, funding has dried up.
The Islam Institute of the Dutch universities will finish functioning on January 1st of next year. The reason for the lack of continued funding hasn't been reported. I would speculate that it has more to do with the general state of the economy rather than a realization that funding arguably adversarial efforts is imprudent.
The University of Leiden doesn't see sufficient financial possibilities for continuing on, the university announced Wednesday.
The International Institute for the Study of Islam in the Modern World (ISIM) was founded ten years ago by the universities of Leiden, Amsterdam, Utrecht, Nijmegen, and the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science.
