More Troops for Afghanistan
(Kabul, Afghanistan) Col. Gregory Julian of U.S. Forces in Afghanistan has announced that an additional 20,000 troops in ground brigades and 10,000 support personnel will be sent to Afghanistan next year.
Excuse my curiosity but when did it become standard military practice to announce the type, schedule and strength of troop movements? What's next? Maybe U.S. Forces command could announce specific routes the new troops will take to penetrate Afghanistan along with a combat readiness assessment of the weaknesses of each military unit?
Logically, it can be assumed that Taliban and al-Qaeda leadership will step up recruiting and allocate additional resources to Afghanistan.
Of course, everything is speculative right now. When Obama becomes President, he may want to just have a sit-down. And we can't forget that there's always the possibility the announced troop movement is disinformation for some unknown purpose.
Helluva way to fight a war. Sheesh!
