Georgia Teacher Busted for Cocaine

(Columbus, Georgia) A special education teacher at Marshall Middle School, Carolyn Mitchell, was arrested Sunday for alleged drug possession offenses.

Mitchell was arrested at her residence along with 35-year-old Eric Reynolds who has been charged with trafficking in cocaine.
Investigators discovered 25.6 grams of cocaine, with a street value of about $2,500, inside the home. Officers found another 13.5 grams of cocaine, with a street value of about $1,350, in a 1985 Pontiac seized during the investigation.

School district spokesperson Valerie Fuller said Mitchell has been employed with the district since August 1997.
Mitchell is charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute.

[Update 1/14/09]

Charges against Carolyn Mitchell dropped. Reportedly, her roommate Reynolds was dealing in crack, admitted to it and claimed Mitchell didn't know. Detectives remain dubious, saying that anyone living in the home would have known of the drugs.
