(Des Moines, Iowa) Earlier today, 27-year-old former teacher at West Des Moines Dowling Catholic High School, Erin Rohwer, was sentenced in Polk County District Court to two years of probation for sexual exploitation of a student.
Rohwer was also ordered to register as a sex offender and prohibited from having any contact with the victim, the victim's family or other students at Dowling High School.

(Des Moines, Iowa) In Polk County Court today, 27-year-old Erin Marie Rohwer, the former head of the English Department at Dowling Catholic High School, pleaded guilty before District Court Judge Douglas Staskal to felony sexual exploitation of a student by a school employee.
"Tell me what you did that makes you guilty of this offense," said Staskal.Sentencing is tentatively scheduled for May 6 at which time Rohwer faces a possible five years in prison. At the same time, she will be ordered to register as a sex offender.
"I engaged in a sexual relationship while I was a teacher at a secondary high school in Polk County," said Rohwer.
"Did your conduct, when you said you had a sexual relationship with a student, did it involve sexual intercourse?" said Staskal.
"Yes," said Rohwer.
"And on how many occasions?" asked Staskal.
"More than once," said Rohwer.

(Des Moines, Iowa) A 27-year-old teacher at Dowling Catholic High School, Erin Marie Rohwer, has been arrested for allegedly engaging in sex with an 18-year-old student.
Sexual contact between any school employee and a student, regardless of age, is against the law in Iowa.Rohwer was booked and released on $5,000 bond.
A one-time encounter is an aggravated misdemeanor, while a pattern of sexual contact is a felony punishable by up to five years in prison.
Rohwer faces the felony-level charge.
