Convicted Jemaah Islamiyah Terrorist Writes Book

(Jakarta, Indonesia) In September 2004, Rois Abu Syaukat, aka Iman Darmawan, trained and directed the suicide bomber who carried out the truck bombing of the Australian Embassy which killed nine people.

For his involvement with Jemaah Islamiyah terrorism, Syaukat/Darmawan, also called Rois, was convicted and sentenced to death. His sentence is currently being appealed.

In the meantime, Syaukat/Darmawan has written a book, "What is Jihad?"
The book, a copy of which was obtained by the Jakarta Globe, is likely to anger the country’s security authorities, who are attempting to halt the circulation of books written by the three Bali bombers prior to their execution in November 2008, to prevent the spread of violent messages. [...]

In the 224-page book, Rois writes that legitimate targets for jihad include nonbelievers, Muslims who abandon their beliefs, killing others for money, hypocrites, those who disobey Islamic law and despotic governments.[my bold]
Consequently, the bombing of the Australian Embassy was justified.

Regarding his delineation of legitimate targets for jihad, it appears that, at some point in time, virtually every single human being on the planet Earth qualifies. ROPMA!

Interestingly, while authorities claim to have difficulty trying to stop circulation of homicidal jihad books, the same authorities seem to have no problem completely suppressing any books or other written material which counter the jihad propaganda. Anti-jihad books are considered insulting to Islam.
