Mom Arrested for Breastfeeding While Drunk

(Cape Coral, Florida) A 42-year-old local mom, Renee T. Vanalsburg, and her 38-year-old husband, Marc E. Rush, have been arrested for alleged child neglect of their one-year-old baby. Police say that Vanalsburg was breastfeeding the baby while under the influence of alcohol and narcotics.

Police had been dispatched to the home in response to a reported domestic dispute.
When police arrived, they say Vanalsburg was breastfeeding the baby and she appeared "heavily under the influence of alcohol and narcotics" at the time.

Officers say the baby's father, Marc Rush, was passed out. On the floor of the baby's room police found broken glass, ant killer, spray paint and knives.

Police say they also found a bottle of Oxycodone containing pills in the baby's crib and a container with white powder on the baby's dresser.
The couple was booked into custody at the Lee County Jail. No news on bail. The baby was taken into custody by the Department of Children and Families. (h/t SuidaeEmpathy)

In an earlier report from Ohio, a Dayton mother, Genine Compton, was found breastfeeding while driving and issued citations for child endangerment and violation of the child restraint law. Police caught Compton driving while talking on a cell phone and breastfeeding her baby daughter, with the infant's head propped up against the steering wheel, at the same time.

Officers advised Compton of the dangers of her actions. Compton reportedly said she would take the advice into consideration while also saying she will do as she pleases when the child is hungry.

Reading between the lines, I'd say that Compton was miffed. (h/t slwlion)
