(Waco, Texas) In January 2009, a 23-year-old local mother, Tera Caldwell, pleaded guilty to manufacture of methamphetamine and possession of pseudoephedrine with intent to manufacture methamphetamine.
According to U.S. Attorney Johnny Sutton:
“By pleading guilty, Caldwell admitted that from January 2007 to October 2008, she conspired with others to manufacture methamphetamine and to obtain large amounts of pseudoephedrine from local pharmacies throughout Central Texas to be used in the manufacturing of methamphetamine."Furthermore, since testing indicated that Caldwell had exposed her three children to the methamphetamine, a sentencing enhancement provision was put into effect. As a consequence, last week federal District Judge Walter Smith sentenced Caldwell to almost 17 years (200 months) in federal prison.
Caldwell's husband, Patrick Conn, also pleaded guilty to the charges and is due to be sentenced on April 1. He faces a possible 30 years in prison.
