Palestinians Protest Dead Sea Scrolls
(Ottawa, Canada) The Prime Minister of the Palestinian Authority, Salam Fayyad, has sent a letter to Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper protesting the planned exhibit of the Dead Sea Scrolls at the Royal Ontario Museum. The six-month exhibit is scheduled to begin in June.
Prime Minister Fayyad contends that the scrolls were acquired illegally by Israel when the Jewish state annexed East Jerusalem in 1967. Despite the reasoning, the Palestinians ostensibly don't want the scrolls to be shown to anyone since they provide documented evidence that the Jewish presence in the land predates theirs. I'm guessing, by at least a couple thousand years.
Thus far, Prime Minister Harper hasn't responded.
