Boy Sentenced for Restroom Stall Cell Phone Pics

(Rochester, Minnesota) In October 2008, a 16-year-old boy used a cell phone to take images of a female underneath a restroom stall at St. Marys Hospital. She screamed for security and the boy was arrested.

In March, the boy pleaded guilty to misdemeanor interfering with privacy. A judge adjudicated him as a delinquent while dismissing a disorderly conduct charge.

Today, it's reported that Olmsted District Judge Kevin Lund sentenced the boy to two years of probation with a wheelbarrow full of conditions, including an order to attend sex offender treatment.
Conditions of his probation include completing recommended programming, no possession or use of alcohol or chemicals, submitting to random testing and searches, including searches of his telephones, cameras and computers. He is not to possess or use pornographic or sexually explicit materials. He must write a letter of apology to the victim and have no contact with the victim. He also is to attend school regularly and is not to hold any positions of authority over any children. That includes babysitting, lifeguarding or working as a camp counselor. He is not to own, use or possess a cell telephone with Internet or photo capabilities.
I would suggest that the boy is being subjected to harsher probationary conditions than some female teachers who have committed child sex crimes.

By the way, the mainstream media has published the boy's name. Since he's a minor, I'll refrain from repeating it. He doesn't need additional exposure.
