(Orange County, California) A 39-year-old English teacher at Costa Mesa High School, Lisa Carlson Fertig, was arrested this week for alleged narcotics possession.
Tuesday's run-in with law enforcement began about 1:45 a.m. when a patrol officer spotted Marc Fertig in the Hyatt's parking lot "twitching uncontrollably," according to Newport Beach police Sgt. Evan Sailor.Reportedly, Fertig had a previous arrest in April for a similar offense.
Shortly after, the man agreed to be searched, and the officer found a plastic straw with white powder that later testing confirmed to be cocaine, Sailor said.
Officers went to Room 420 of the Hyatt to inform Lisa Fertig of the arrest, and after a discussion with her, they found a prescription drug bottle that contained a "usable quantity" of cocaine residue, Sailor said.
Fertig was booked into custody and later released on bail.
