Teacher Gets Prison for Indecency with Boy - Updated

(Wilmington, North Carolina) Former Williston Middle School teacher and mother, Jessica Wishnack, 28, pleaded guilty today to indecent liberties with a minor and was sentenced by Superior Court Judge Phyllis Gorham to three and one-half years in prison.

Wishnask, who wore pink-and-white striped jail garb, was never formally indicted, but she agreed to the charges during a hearing in New Hanover County Superior Court. Charges of statutory rape, a felony, and disseminating harmful material to a minor, a misdemeanor were dismissed in return for her guilty plea.

Not only does she have to serve the minimum three-and-a-half years in prison, but she must register as a sex offender for the next 30 years. That means Wishnask, a 28-year-old mother of one, won’t be able to go to a playground, a park or live near a day care, said prosecutor Lance Oehrlein.

And, that's not all. Besides losing her career, going to prison and registering as a sex offender, Wishnack is also going through a divorce and bankruptcy. Strangely, thus far no sources indicate that Wishnack suffers from bipolar disorder.

(Wilmington, North Carolina) A 27-year-old teacher, Jessica Wishnask, who resigned from Williston Middle School yesterday, has been accused of taking indecent liberties with a 15-year-old boy.

Reportedly, police caught Wishnask and the boy being intimate in the back seat of a car about 4 AM Saturday.

The officer took a closer look at the vehicle after noticing its brake lights were on and the seats were down, according to police spokeswoman Lucy Crockett.

Wishnask was booked into custody and later released on $40,000 bond.

A court appearance is scheduled for June 11.
