(Lebanon, Virginia) The trial of former Lebanon Middle School teacher Connie Beth Klewer concluded this week with guilty verdicts on all five charges.
Klewer was convicted by a jury after 45 minutes of deliberations.
Brian Patton, Russell County Commonwealth’s Attorney, was the prosecutor on the case. During his opening statement, Patton summarized the case, which was largely based on graphic images, and sexually explicit emails and text messages sent by Klewer to the victim’s cell phone and email account.[…]The jury recommended 32 and one-half years in prison for Klewer. Official sentencing is scheduled for March 13.
Patton told the jury that the victim trusted Klewer and even warned her that his mother had found his phone, however, she still continued to send explicit text messages to him and made arrangements to meet him at a local park. On July 9, 2009, Klewer was arrested while waiting on the 14 year old boy, sitting in her car with her phone in her hand.
