Purchasing Carbon Credits via Card-Readers on Trees
An Automated Tree-Rental for Emission Encaging Machine (ATREEM) scheme has been devised to allow society's most-gullible to buy carbon credits directly from trees.
The system allows for carbon credit charges to be recorded from credit cards via a swipe-card interface. As a tree grows, the amount of carbon dioxide absorbed is calculated and translated into a dollar value.
Paying the amount specified for the tree will allow the gullible purchaser to claim credit for the carbon absorbed by the tree. Apparently, every tree will have a card-reader (pic).
P.T. Barnum would be proud.
