Afghan Intel Biggie Killed

(Kabul, Afghanistan) During the inauguration of a new mosque today in the city of Mehtar Lam in Laghman province, Deputy Intelligence Minister Abdullah Laghmani was killed in a suicide bomb attack.

Among those who gathered at the site were provincial council members and the governor of the province Lutfullah Mashal, who was wounded in the blast.

Media reports said the Taliban had claimed responsibility for the attack which was a major blow to the country's deteriorating security situation.

There were fears that the death toll could rise as emergency workers ferried 36 others wounded in the attack to local hospitals.

One might assume that the intelligence ministry would be the most informed about potential threats. Apparently, they didn't see this one coming.
