Cannonball Ricochet - Updated/Bumped

(Georges Township, Pennsylvania) A 54-year-old local man, Bill Maser, has been accused of reckless endangerment for shooting a cannon which blasted into his neighbor's house a quarter-mile away.

Maser said he was testing a replica Civil War cannon and the lead cannonball accidentally ricocheted into his neighbor's house. Nevertheless, he faces several charges including reckless endangerment and criminal mischief.

Fortunately, no one was hurt by the accidental ricochet.

By the way, NBC (Philadelphia) reported the story with this picture.

It's curious that someone at NBC apparently believes viewers would actually think the flash came from a cannon with a plug in the barrel. It's insultingly obvious fauxtography.

[Update 9/9/09]

According to commenter USMC Steve:
Look closely at the gun and you will see that the white tube up top is a recuperator/recoil mechanism. The actual gun tube is BELOW and painted black.
Apologies for the error.
