(Belfast, Northern Ireland) Most of all, you've got to hide from the kids.

The wife of Northern Ireland’s First Minister, Peter Robinson, admitted last night that she tried to kill herself after confessing to him that she had had an affair.

Iris Robinson, 60, MP for Strangford, also encouraged friends to provide financial backing to help her lover with a business venture.

Mrs. Robinson's lover, Kirk McCambley, was 19 years old during the time he was a cupcake in her pantry. She blames her behavior on mental illness and hiding it in a hiding place where no one ever goes.

"Mrs Robinson said that she was determined to regain her health and work to repair the damage to her marriage. She added: “I do not deserve a second chance but I have been given one. Nothing is more important to me.”

[Update 1/11/10] A followup report indicates that Mrs. Robinson allegedly engaged in amorous relations with three other men. Most notably, Kirk McCambley's father was Mrs. Robinson's butcher and it's claimed that for years she frequently visited his shop for his meat.

Additionally, witnesses said that a fellow member (not named) of the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) was often seen visiting Mrs. Robinson when her husband was away. Then there are also claims that a businessman, Mr. Brian Kelly, was involved with Mrs. Robinson although he denies it.

Meanwhile, there are calls for Mr. Robinson to resign his leading political position and Mrs. Robinson is reportedly receiving "acute psychiatric treatment."
