Ex-Con Bank Robber Running for Sheriff

(Musselshell County, Montana) Problem is that 70-year-old felon John White is prohibited by law from possessing firearms. Years ago, he was convicted of bank robbery. Therefore, if he gets elected, he'll have to have a deputy follow him around with a gun just in case there's some law enforcin' to do.

What a minute! I think there's a precedent for a lawman without a gun.

If my memory serves, wasn't there a sheriff down south somewhere that kept the peace without a gun? His name was Andy or Barney or something and he had a deputy named Gomer or Otis or something.
