Viking Execution Pit
(Weymouth, England) In June 2009, an execution pit containing the naked, decapitated and tangled skeletons of 51 Vikings was found near the southern coast of England.
Radio-carbon dating indicated that the skeletons and neatly stacked heads came from men who lived between A.D. 910 and 1030 when the English coastal areas saw many battles fought against Viking invaders. Analysis of the teeth determined that the men were in their late teens and early 20s.
Evidence suggests that the Viking executions were committed by Saxon soldiers rather than Packers or Bears.
