(Lafayette, Louisiana) Last week, former guidance counselor Dr. Allison Hargrave, 40, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Richard T. Haik to 30 years in federal prison for attempting to entice a teen girl into engaging in criminal sex.
Hargrave could have received life in prison.
Hargrave admitted having had a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl in late 2009 and early 2010. The then-high school freshman was being counseled by Hargrave when the alleged relationship began.Notably, Hargrave was also ordered to pay $279,454 to her victim.

(Lafayette, Louisiana) Former guidance counselor at Ascension Episcopal School, Dr. Allison Hargrave, 40, surprised the court and pleaded guilty yesterday to engaging in sex with a 14-year-old girl.
The victim's parents sat on the right side of the courtroom, surrounded by a dozen friends and family Friday. The victim's mother began weeping even before Hagrave entered the courtroom, and was sobbing loudly once the hearing ended and the room was nearly empty.Sentencing will occur after completion of a pre-sentence report, anticipated to take place "later this year."
Hargrave, the mother of two preteen girls, was a psychiatrist working as a counselor and yoga instructor when she began counseling the then-Ascension Episcopal School eighth-grade student in spring 2009.

(Lafayette, Louisiana) A former guidance counselor at Ascension Episcopal School, Dr. Allison Hargrave, has been arrested for allegedly attempting to entice an eighth-grade female student into sexual activity.
She is being charged with having sexual acts with a minor. Hargrave is alleged to have used her counseling position to entice the girl into sexual acts at both the school and her home.Hargrave was indicted by a federal grand jury in Shreveport in May. She was taken into custody yesterday by FBI agents in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. She awaits transportation back to Lafayette.
