PETA Protest Dispersed in Dubai

(Dubai, United Arab Emirates) A group of PETA (People For the Ethical Treatment of Animals) activists were planning a demonstration outside the Dubai Zoo but it didn't happen. Police quickly arrived and forcefully told them to move along.
The members, mostly from South East Asian division of PETA had planned to protest against the cruelty to animals caged at the Dubai Zoo.

The event was scheduled at 1.30pm. “The group even had plans for a man to wear condoms and parade himself in front of the Union Square as a mark of protest,” said one Dubai resident, who until recently was closely associated with PETA New York.

“These people who are unaware of the UAE culture want to create problems rather than raise awareness. The day I was informed about the plan I tried to dissuade them. The New York Office informed me that the South Asian division is in charge of the protest,” he said.
A Dubai Police spokesman said that PETA did not have necessary permits. A PETA rep said they asked for a permit but didn't receive a response. Excuse me, but I suggest that "no response" is a response.

Interestingly, this incident demonstrates how arrogant animal-rights liberals, capable of flourishing under the Bill of Rights guarantees in the United States, run into significant difficulty when trying to export their utopian ideology to countries without a Bill of Rights, which incidentally are all of them other than the U.S.
