Obama's Speeches and Being There

Maybe it's just me but recently I've found that my concentration starts to dip while listening to President Obama's speeches. It seems that the words spoken now are not much different from the words he spoke in speeches two years ago. Cited are the usual problems and the usual promises while throwing in the usual blame.

I don't know whether it's my inability to concentrate or President Obama's failure to capture my complete attention, but I daydream when he speaks and, by extension apparently, I also experience nightmares.

Interestingly though, the dreams I've had at night have President Obama giving a speech and talking real slow. Very slow. Sloth-like slow.
"Let .......... me ........... be ............ clear .......... the …………. jobs ………. will ……… grow …………. and ……….. the …………. nation ……….. will ……... prosper ……….. when ………. we ………… plant ……….. the ………… seeds ………. deep.

Our ……… strong ……… roots …………. will ……….. give ……… jobs ………… in ………… the ……….. spring ……… so ……….. we ………..must …………. work ……….. hard ………… in ………. the …………land."
Yes, in my dreams I'm channeling Chance (Chauncey) Gardner into Barack Obama. And, it seems so natural.

If the President would just slow down his speech to the point where every word seemed to represent an individual thought, he could pull off a respectable impersonation of the Peter Sellers part in Being There. Furthermore, given President Obama's current poll numbers, I'd suggest he would see a bump in his approval rating.
