(Jackson County, Georgia) It's not often one hears of an environmentally-friendly exploding automobile.
A Jackson County sheriff's deputy had to jump out of his car while it was moving at 50 miles an hour to escape a fire. The police cruiser was fueled partly by propane, an effort by Jackson County to use a cheaper, environmentally friendly alternative fuel. The investigation continues.
The sheriff said Monday that he believes something went wrong with the propane system.
"We've got to determine what went wrong," said Sheriff Evans.
The sheriff said the fire started when veteran Deputy Gary Cox tried to light a cigarette while responding to a robbery call.
