International Hot Pants Advisory

(Asian Pacific Rim) A controversial cultural phenomenon in East Asian countries is prompting mixed but loud reactions. It's the influence of pretty young Korean girls in hot pants.

Scantily-clad Korean girl singing groups perform and are imitated throughout the Far East. They have been criticized as too young, too revealing, too suggestive and blamed for the spread of dengue fever, a potentially-fatal disease.
With the immense popularity of Korean girl groups, the fashion style of wearing hot pants is being widely imitated by girls in Thailand, but the Thai government said soaring popularity of hot pants is one of the reasons behind the spread of dengue fever.

This year alone, 90,000 cases of dengue fever have been reported in Thailand. As the disease is spread by virus-carrying mosquitoes, exposing legs to their bite can be dangerous, it said.
Frankly, I suggest it's a stretch to blame the spread of dengue fever on hot pants in a tropical nation.
