(Seoul, South Korea) At least 50 artillery rounds were fired by North Korea at the West Sea island of Yeonpyeong-do in South Korean territory. In return, South Korea blasted back at least 30 rounds.
Approximately 70 homes on the island were damaged as the population took shelter. Reported casualties thus far have been light but are expected to climb.
North Korea claims that the South Koreans fired first.
