Woman Accused of Child Endangerment

(York, Pennsylvania) A 33-year-old local woman and her 45-year-old boyfriend were arrested after authorities found that the couple had five children they hid from society. A sixth child was born earlier this week.

Both Louann E. Bowers and her boyfriend, Sinhue A. Johnson, face five counts of child endangerment.

The children range from two to 13 years of age and they are reportedly doing well in foster care.
Court documents state the children aren't at their expected education levels and there are possible mental-health issues with some of them.

No records: They have no birth certificates, were never enrolled in school, never received medical care or vaccinations and had no documentation to prove they existed, police said; no records of home-schooling exist either.

For years, they lived in squalor at 734 S. Duke St. with no heat, no electric service, no water, no functioning toilet and a leaky roof, documents state.
Bowers has been classified as a missing person since 1993 when she allegedly ran away with Johnson, her uncle by marriage. Doing the math, she was 16 and he was 28 at the time.
