Illinois Teacher Gets 30 Days in Sex Case - Update

(Plainfield, Illinois) Yesterday, physical education and dance teacher formerly at Plainfield North High School, Ashley M. Blumenshine, pleaded guilty in Will County Court to a felony charge of traveling to meet a minor for sex.

As a result, Blumenshine was sentenced to two years of probation and 30 days in jail. Her attorney George Lenard said Blumenshine will get credit for time served.
Blumenshine, who surrendered to sheriff’s deputies Friday to serve her jail sentence, also will have to register as a sex offender for 10 years, Lenard said.

In a letter she wrote in January 2012 that was added to her court file on April 8, Blumenshine wrote that she wished she could undo her actions and has a hard time forgiving herself for what happened.
Blumenshine resigned her tenured position after arrest.

Illinois Teacher Accused of Sex with Boy
[Previous 1/5/11 post]
(Plainfield, Illinois) A 27-year-old physical education teacher at Plainfield North High School, Ashley M. Blumenshine, was arrested yesterday for allegedly engaging in sex with a 16-year-old boy.

Blumenshine faces a charge of criminal sexual abuse.
She was allegedly found having sex with the 16-year-old, who is a Plainfield North student, in a vehicle behind Kohl’s, 11860 S. Route 59, police said.

Doster said police approached the scene behind Kohl’s when they noticed two suspicious vehicles “at the end of the lot away from anything else.”

Following interviews, police determined they had sex slightly before officers arrived at the scene, Doster said.
Blumenshine was booked into custody at the Will County Adult Detention Center without bond.
