Texas Teacher Gets 10 Years Prison - Updated

(San Antonio, Texas) Former 8th-grade math teacher Nora Lynn Martinez pleaded guilty Wednesday to online solicitation of a minor and indecency with a child by contact.
Martinez was arrested in January for the indecency charge after the student, then 13, lent her cell phone to her father.

On the phone, the father told police, he found text messages from Martinez stating she loved the girl and that she wanted them to run away together and get married.

“Probably in early December we started holding hands and our hugs started lasting longer,” the student told police in a handwritten statement. “Kissing began in mid-December.”
As a result, Martinez was sentenced to 10 years in prison. Upon her release, she will be required to register as a sex offender.
