(Fort Lauderdale, Florida) Stacy Jenkins, a Crime Scene Investigator, has been fired from the Fort Lauderdale Police Department for her involvement in "workplace high jinks" which allegedly created a hostile work environment.
Three other members of the police department, Kimberly Hancock, Kerri Hagerty and Julia Horn, received short suspensions.
The high jinks reportedly occurred in early 2010.
Jenkins hid a digital recorder in the city's Crime Scene Investigation office to record conversations of day-shift workers. She told the other three on Jan. 30, 2010.I'd suggest there might have been some hostility in the work environment before the peanut butter incident.
While the four chatted, they let Jenkins' pet dog eat from a peanut butter jar that belonged to another detective. Other officers testified that they ate from the jar for a week without knowing.
Jenkins also told her colleagues that she previously let her dog urinate on a detective's desk.
