(Ottawa, Canada) This all just smells crooked.
A complaint was filed against Ontario Hydro for overcharging customers. Ontario Hydro was assessed a $17.7 million fine because of the practice.
The Ontario Energy Board agreed to let Ontario Hydro raise rates to cover the cost of paying the fine.
Obviously, the net effect is identical. They are either overcharged or forced to pay higher rates. The customer gets screwed.
Conservative Party Leader Tim Hudak expressed outrage, attacking the Dalton McGuinty administration.
Hudak attacked the Liberals on a range of issues, including massive cost overruns at a hydro expansion project at Niagara Falls, and subsidies to green energy producers that have sent electricity bills soaring.I know the answer. McGuinty is a liberal and that's what liberal politicians do.
"Premier, why do you treat Ontario families like they're bottomless ATM machines?"
