(Reno, Nevada) Former teacher's aide Marie Fisher has been sentenced for engaging in a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old male student.
Washoe County District Judge Robert Perry sentenced Fisher to 32 months in Nevada State Prison, with parole eligibility after 12 months, but suspended it and put her on probation.Mitigating Fisher's punishment was the victim's parents' desire for Fisher not to go to prison and the fact that it was Fisher's first offense.
Fisher was also ordered to pay fees totaling more than $1,000, her lawyer Shelly O'Neill said.
Additionally, defense attorney O'Neill claimed the court should be sensitive and consider that Fisher was adopted, has ADHD and the victim's parents were not watchful, essentially contending that Fisher's crime was not all her fault.
