No Charges for Teacher Who Popped Student - Updated

(Brookville, Florida) Prosecutors have declined to press charges against Sandra Hadsock because they "could not determine whether she struck the student in self-defense. She insisted she did - and her attorney hoped that the school would allow her to come back to work."

Florida Teacher Pops Student in Mug
[Previous 5/13/11 post]
(Brooksville, Florida) A 64-year-old art teacher at Central High School, Sandra Hadsock, has been accused of punching a student in the face after being called several obscene names.
The Hernando County Sheriff's Office said Hadsock hit a student in the face after an argument, but the report also says the student called her several obscene names first.

Hadsock did not comment directly on the incident on advice from her attorney, but she said she did feel threatened by the student.

"Get with my lawyer, handle all the legal things and do the best that I can," she said. "Take care of myself, and I think this will come out good because that's what I believe."

Hadsock said she was Teacher of the Year for the 2009-2010 school year, an achievement that reflects her love of teaching.
Hadsock was arrested on a charge of child abuse. A court appearance is scheduled for next month.
