Carolina Teen Allegedly Sold for Sex

(Johnson County, North Carolina) A 41-year-old Newton Grove woman, Teresa Ashworth Page, has been arrested for allegedly selling a 15-year-old girl for sex during incidents occurring between September 2010 and May 2011.

Page faces a charge of felony child abuse by prostitution.
Page was paid to allow Johnny Franklin Thornton, 62, to rape the girl, Johnston County sheriff's investigators said.[…]

Thornton, of 8281 Harper House Road near Johnston County's Bentonville Battlefield, was arrested last week and charged with two counts of first-degree rape, 10 counts of statutory rape or sexual offense and one count each of taking indecent liberties with a minor, felony conspiracy, assault by strangulation and assault on a female.

On one occasion, warrants say, Thornton strangled the girl to the point she passed out.
Thornton was assisted by his 23-year-old daughter-in-law, Tina Leigh Tucker, who faces charges of felony conspiracy, assault inflicting serious injury and two counts of first-degree rape.

Thornton is in custody at the Johnson County Jail with bail set at $1 million. Tucker is being held with bail set at $300,000. Page has bail set at $40,000.
