(Bulloch County, Georgia) A 35-year-old language arts teacher at William James Middle School, Amy Bass Jackson, has been accused of engaging in sex with a 14-year-old former student.
Jackson faces charges of aggravated child molestation, child molestation, statutory rape, enticing a child for indecent purposes, sexual assault by person with supervisory authority, computer or electronic child exploitation and furnishing harmful material to minors.
In a statement released this afternoon, Superintendent Dr. Lewis Holloway said, "We regret the impact this isolated incident will have on the affected parties and will continue to support them in their efforts to heal. Counselors will be available to students if needed. The School District will continue its efforts to educate every student with rigor, relevance and responsibility."Jackson was booked into custody at the Bulloch County Jail without bond.
Furthermore, Dr. Holloway said that the encounters happened off-campus.
