(Vienna, Austria) A member of the atheist Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, Niko Alm, convinced the Austrian government to issue him a driver's license with him pictured wearing a spaghetti strainer.
An Austrian atheist has won the right to be shown on his driving-licence photo wearing a pasta strainer as "religious headgear".
Niko Alm first applied for the licence three years ago after reading that headgear was allowed in official pictures only for confessional reasons.
Mr Alm said the sieve was a requirement of his religion, pastafarianism.
Later a police spokesman explained that the licence was issued because Mr Alm's face was fully visible in the photo.
So, if your face is fully visible, you could even get a license picturing you wearing a beanie with a propeller. Appropriate, eh?
Of course, if Alm is pulled over by the police, it's possible that the officers may look for reasons to detain him. I'd suggest that law enforcers typically give smart alecks extra attention.
"Where's your strainer, Pasta-Boy?"Heh.
