Teacher Molested in Classroom

(Syracuse, New York) On October 29, 2010, 28-year-old Garth Hill walked into a classroom full of first-grade students at McKinley-Brighton Elementary School and forced the teacher to engage in sexual acts.

Reportedly, Hill was under the influence of drugs during the assault which helps explain why he left his wallet behind when he fled the school.

In accordance with a plea agreement, Hill pleaded guilty earlier today to felony sexual abuse and burglary. In exchange, Hill is assured a sentence of 12 years to life in prison.
The sentence was "very appropriate," said Assistant District Attorney Jeremy Cali.

"If someone is willing to walk into a school, and into a classroom of 6 and 7 year olds, and sexually assault a teacher, he needs to be locked up," Cali said.

Defense attorney Thomas Ryan agreed that the promised sentence is appropriate. If convicted at trial, his client would have faced 25-years to life, he said.
Formal sentencing is scheduled for July 27.
