Fake Bomb Incident in Arizona

(Phoenix, Arizona) A 51-year-old African refugee, Lewiza Daman, was arrested by TSA agents for attempting to sneak a fake bomb aboard an airplane. She said it was to test airport security.
Police say the device they found looked just like a homemade bomb.

What raised suspicion was a container filled with some sort of paste-like substance, with a cell phone taped to the top. Investigators arrested 51-year-old Daman, an African refugee with no permanent address.

"We do take this seriously, obviously somebody that is trying to take an item like this through a security checkpoint and onto an airplane we are going to take it seriously," said Phoenix Police Sgt. Steve Martos.

Daman told Homeland Security detectives Shullu Gorado had given her the fake bomb to carry on a plane and hand to someone waiting for her in Des Moines, Iowa. Detectives then arrested Gorado at an apartment in Phoenix.
In addition to Gorado, another male, Asa Shani, was arrested. All three suspects are from Eritrea in east Africa.
