Kentucky Teacher Goes Home in Sex Case - Updated

(Shelbyville, Kentucky) Special education teacher Shannon Hirchert, 42, has been sentenced to probation for seven years for engaging two male students in a bit of lascivious "special education."
Investigators said the incidents took place in the fall of 2010 in different locations, including after hours at Collins High School.

Hirchert was also accused of sending lewd photographs to the boys' cellphones.

As part of her sentence, she'll be placed on the sex offender registry.

"She can't teach, she's given up her Kentucky teaching license She can't seek a teaching license in any other state. She can't have unregistered emails, no social networking. All those things are very important in sex offense cases," said Commonwealth Attorney Laura Donnell.

Hirchert will be required to complete a sex offender treatment program and she's been banned from having contact with children.
