Kabylie region in red
(Algiers, Algeria) Last Friday in the restive mountainous Kabylie region, a top leader of al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM), Mohammed Abadi, aka Salah Abou Yacine, 53, was killed by Algerian forces.
Government forces clashed with AQIM kidnappers at a checkpoint near the town of Maatkas which left the hostage and two terrorists dead. Reportedly, one of the terrorists killed was Mohammed Abadi.
