Wisconsin Mom Gets 90 Days for Sex with Boy - Updated

(Sussex, Wisconsin) After pleading no contest to engaging in sex with a 13-year-old boy, 24-year-old Brittany Barcus was sentenced to three months in jail followed by three years of probation.
Brittany Barcus entered a plea bargain with the district attorney to lower her felony charges to two misdemeanor counts of fourth-degree sexual assault. If convicted of her previous charges, Barcus would have been sentenced to up to 130 [Years, months, or days - not specified.] in prison and $300,000 in fines.

In addition to her jail time and probation, Barcus must seek alcohol and drug treatment, be randomly tested to ensure absolute sobriety, have no other contact with minors outside her three children, attend parenting classes, seek a mental health evaluation and pay $736 in court fees. If she violates probation, Barcus will be sentenced to 18 months in jail.

"I understand the attention I have him was inappropriate, and that wasn't my inention," Barcus told the judge. "I saw a boy with no food, no clothes, no housing, and it broke my heart." (sic all)
The resolution of the case is arguably lenient.

(Sussex, Wisconsin) A 24-year-old local mother-of-three, Brittany Barcus, has been accused of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old boy at least three times in 2010.

Barcus faces three counts of sexual assault of a child under 16.
Barcus had befriended the boy, who is now 14, prior to the assaults and would invite him to her home on daily basis.

On one occasion, Barcus had sex with the boy in her laundry room while her children were sleeping. A neighbor also reported Barcus and the victim would walk around the neighborhood holding hands like they were boyfriend and girlfriend.
Barcus has denied the allegations.
