(Pleasanton, California) Yesterday, 32-year-old teacher Stephanie Deffner pleaded guilty to possession of methadone per a plea agreement which included dismissal of charges for possession of oxycodone.
As a result of the guilty plea, Judge Hugh Walker sentenced Deffner to probation and treatment and deferred judgment for six weeks.
Deffner will be back in court for a progress report in six weeks.Deffner is on unpaid leave from her teaching position.
A Dublin police officer was conducting surveillance on a suspected drug dealer at the inn, according to the arrest record in Deffner's court file.
The officer said he saw the suspected drug dealer come out of her room and get in Deffner's car. Deffner then drove about 200 yards away and parked, according to the arrest report.
Watching through binoculars, the officer saw the two smoking what appeared to be crushed-up pills using aluminum foil and a straw, according to the arrest report.
Both were arrested; police found oxycodone pills in the car's center console and methadone in Deffner's purse.

(Pleasanton, California) On October 26, a 32-year-old economics teacher at Foothills High School, Stephanie Deffner, was arrested on drug charges.
Deffner faces charges of possession of a controlled substance and being under the influence of a controlled substance. It's not clear what controlled substance was involved.
While the district will not comment on specifics involving an individual, Bill Faraghan, assistant superintendent of human resources, issued this statement:Deffner was booked into custody at the Santa Rita Jail and subsequently released on $12,500 bail.
"All school district employees are fingerprinted prior to employment. In the event of an arrest, the school district receives a subsequent arrest report from the Department of Justice.
By law, the district is obligated to maintain the confidentiality of any arrest report received."
