(Charleston, South Carolina) In August 2011, Erica Mae Butts and Shanita Latrice Cunningham, both 25, were convicted of homicide by child abuse in the 2009 death of three-year-old Serenity Richardson. Reportedly, the little girl had bruises on every part of her body except the soles of her feet.

Last Thursday, Butts and Cunningham were each sentenced to life in prison.
After the verdict, court officials had to carry out both women as they collapsed and family members from both sides sobbed.
A lot of tears came from the women but none were for three-year-old Serenity Richardson. Sad case.
