Louisiana Teacher Accused of Indecency with Girl, 14

(Lafayette, Louisiana) A 30-year-old teacher at Lafayette High School, Katie Champagne, has been accused of behaving indecently with a 14-year-old girl.

Champagne faces six counts of indecent behavior with a juvenile.

"The allegations indicated that the teacher had grabbed the breast and slapped the buttocks of the victim. The actions are believed to have occurred from September of 2011 through November of 2011," Cpl. Paul Mouton said.

Six victims, under the age of 17, were identified and provided statements to police that the suspect had engaged in inappropriate touching of the students, Mouton said.

Champagne has been placed on leave without pay pending the outcome of the investigation.
